Facade
This project is a site-specific installation composed of a house facade constructed entirely of window blinds complete with doors, windows, walls, railings, and even plants. The work functions around two elements: the installation of an exterior facade in the gallery, which suggests that the viewer is simultaneously looking out from inside the gallery and in from beyond the facade ; and the blinds themselves, which invite the viewer to open them and look inside, further articulating the tension between inside and outside. Experiencing this work challenges preconceived ideas of inside/outside, permeable/impermeable, and public/private space.
Facade , 2008, site-specific installation, aluminum, plastic, wood.
