Merav Ezer

Born in Tel-Aviv, Israel.

Merav Ezer is a multidisciplinary artist who is based in New York and has exhibited sculpture, video, installation and photography. As a sculptor, Ezer draws inspiration from interdisciplinary subjects such as architecture, technology and the mundane. She addresses questions of nomadic displacement, human behavior (condition), people’s interaction with technology, ideas about the future and nature’s spiritual elements.

Merav Ezer has participated in several exhibitions. Her first NY group show was at the Andy Warhol Factory. She has also participated in the First Annual Cypress Video Art Festival, Williamsburg Video Art Festival and Scope New York, among others. In 2006, Merav curated a video art compilation, Identity in Rabbit-hole Studio, which was part of the 10th Annual Dumbo Art Festival. Ezer has also received favorable reviews in The Journal of International Woman Studies, The Jewish Press and World Sculpture News.

In 2005, Ezer started collaborating with Artist Adi Shniderman, a photographer and digital age technology scholar. Together they created Air Condition - the first video in a trilogy that deals with the interactions between humans and technology. This project continues Ezer's examination of displacement, and focuses on the disquiet/restless mind. In June 2007, Merav and Adi Shniderman received the Finishing Funds award, supported by the New York State Council of the Arts.

Born in Tel-Aviv, Israel, Merav Ezer is a current MFA student at NY SUNY Purchase. She earned her B.ED degree in Art Education at Beit-Berel College School and has participated in several residencies, such as the Makor Artists-in Residency, Virginia Art Center, and ETC. Ezer is currently working on her first book, planning to be published in spring 2008. Merav Ezer participated in several exhibitions.
